GrainOrient processes electron backscatter diffraction scan data to generate inverse pole figure maps, grain boundary character distributions, and misorientation angle histograms. The tool identifies coincidence site lattice boundaries and calculates Taylor factor distributions for polycrystalline deformation modeling. Texture analysis using orientation distribution functions quantifies preferred crystallographic orientations that control anisotropic mechanical properties in rolled sheet and forged components.
